Many people were angry after the new release of GTA IV, 4, due to freezing issues many of the 60GB owners were experiencing during the loading of the intro in the game. Through deeper I found along with the gaming community found that this error was more specific to the very first 60GB PS3’s sold. Such as mine…
After contacting Sony myself they never told me what was inducing the freezing of the intro In Grand theft auto 4, but they did tell me it was their fault and that they would recall my PS3. I asked if this was applicable to all PS3 60GB’s and they said, “No, it’s just a “handful” of PS3’s produced during a certain time period.”
Over phone support they collected my address, name, and some PS3 details such as the PS3 serial. They asked me if I had opened the internal of the Playstation 3 because if I did that would void the warranty and there was nothing they could do to help me. I told them,”No.” One thing that caught my attention was that before he could catch his tongue, he asked me to check my PS3 production month on the console’s side and then he accidentally said something like, “For example Decemb…r.” I checked mine and it said November 2006. From this I think that I can conclude that if you have a PS3 60GB made in 2006 around the months November-December you are probably eligible for for a recall. They will then send a box, free shipping, to your house so that you can send your PS3 back to them for a whole brand new one that WORKS.
My box has finally arrived and I see that it also has some paperwork accompanying it asking for proof of purchase.

Ashame because I probably won’t have it for a good first part of the summer.

Recently Rockstar games released Grand Theft Auto 4 and it seems to be freezing a handful of PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles across the nation. Don’t bother contacting their phone support. They will play completely stupid and pretend that this is their first time hearing about this issue; I do realize they are probably trying to fix grand theft auto 4 as we speak, but really can you please hurry it up Rockstar. If you have already searched around you will find many people saying they have find solutions to the problem and in most cases they eventually get flamed out by people who took their advice and f’d up their systems. (e.g. Some of which include and are not limited to…disconnecting the internet, changing the video settings, incinerating their graphics cards, smashing their system with a hammer, and plunging their console into a pool) Disgruntled gamers are on the verge of insanity waiting for an arrival of a fix that Rockstar, the game developers, haven’t even suggested will be created or released. So far they have not even confronted this issue publically. The biggest game of the year and highest rated by IGN and we cannot even play it…pathetic.
Gamers have speculated and concluded that the freezing in grand theft auto is most commonly prevalent in 60 GB consoles over any other versions…more specifically the first PS3’s sold seem to be extremely prone to freeze during GTA game play. Does this mean that our systems are the problem, if they are working for the other XX gb PS3s? Yes. Will Sony have a recall on all first release 60 GB PS3 consoles? No, even if we were to deem anybody responsible we should be pointing the finger at Rockstar. This brings us to the topic of “Will the freezing ever be fixed?” Keep your cool because I truly believe that eventually Rockstar will release a patch making it “compatible with the 60gb PS3.” Until then we wait, nag, and complain on forums waiting for our crys to be heard…
